ما زالت عروس الجبل وواجهة عسير السياحية الأولى، المدينة تنتظر المزيد من خدمات البلدية لتطوير أحيائها ومخططاتها، وهو ما عبّر عنه عدد من سكانها، مطالبين بمعالجة هذه الإشكالات عاجلاً.

أوضح علي العكاسي، أن إلغاء بلدية أبها – وهي من أقدم البلديات في المملكة – كان له أثر سلبي كبير على المدينة، إذ فقدت جهة كانت قادرة على متابعة حاجاتها مباشرة، مما انعكس على تراجع مستوى الحدائق والمداخل والمشاريع التي تعاني التعليق والتأخير حتى اليوم. وطالب بعودة البلدية لتتولى مسؤوليات المدينة بعيداً عن ازدحام مهمات الأمانة.

وأشار الدكتور عبدالرحمن فصيل، إلى أن جمال أبها الطبيعي يحتاج بنية تحتية تواكبه، إلا أن الشوارع مليئة بالحفر والتشققات، والأرصفة غير المطابقة للمواصفات، والمطبات الصناعية وفتحات المانهول أصبحت عوائق إضافية. كما انتقد ضعف العناية بالمتنزهات وتراكم النفايات داخل الأحياء، ما يسبب روائح وحشرات وتشوهات بصرية لا تليق بمدينة سياحية.

وأكد مصطفى بن عزيز، أن المدينة تحتاج إلى تحسين مداخلها الشرقية والشمالية، وتطوير وادي أبها حتى المحالة، والاهتمام بتجميل الساحات والدوارات، إضافة إلى معالجة تعثر طريق الأمير سلطان منذ أكثر من 10 سنوات، ومراجعة مشاريع الأنسنة التي ضيّقت بعض الطرق، وتحسين شبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار.

وطالب أحمد النعمي، بجولة ميدانية للاطلاع على حاجات الأحياء، مؤكداً أن أبها بحاجة إلى بلدية مستقلة، لتحسين الشوارع والحدائق والمواقف والمرافق الحكومية وممرات المشاة، ومعالجة مدخل المدينة المتعثر منذ سنوات، وإنشاء شبكات حديثة لتصريف مياه الأمطار.

Ali Al-Akasi clarified that the cancellation of the Abha Municipality – one of the oldest municipalities in the Kingdom – had a significant negative impact on the city, as it lost an entity that was capable of directly addressing its needs, which reflected in the decline of the parks, entrances, and projects that continue to suffer from suspension and delays to this day. He called for the municipality's return to take on the city's responsibilities away from the congestion of the secretariat's tasks.

Dr. Abdulrahman Faisal pointed out that the natural beauty of Abha requires infrastructure to match it; however, the streets are filled with potholes and cracks, the sidewalks do not meet specifications, and speed bumps and manhole openings have become additional obstacles. He also criticized the lack of care for parks and the accumulation of waste within neighborhoods, which causes odors, insects, and visual distortions unbefitting of a tourist city.

Moustafa bin Aziz confirmed that the city needs to improve its eastern and northern entrances, develop Wadi Abha up to Al-Muhalla, and focus on beautifying squares and roundabouts, in addition to addressing the stalled Prince Sultan Road for more than 10 years, and reviewing humanization projects that have narrowed some roads, as well as improving rainwater drainage networks.

Ahmed Al-Nami called for a field tour to assess the needs of the neighborhoods, confirming that Abha needs an independent municipality to improve the streets, parks, parking lots, government facilities, and pedestrian pathways, as well as to address the city's entrance that has been stalled for years and to establish modern rainwater drainage networks.
