LONDON — Saudi Arabia participated in the 137th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council in London as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in international maritime forums and support the development of the maritime transport sector.
The Kingdom's delegation, headed by the President of the Transport General Authority (TGA), Eng. Fawaz Al-Sahli, took part in discussions on key strategic issues related to the maritime transport sector, including improving its efficiency, enhancing maritime safety and security, and strengthening international cooperation.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with officials from various countries and international organizations to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise, and highlight the Kingdom's achievements in developing the maritime sector.
The TGA said the Kingdom's participation aimed to showcase Saudi Arabia's progress in developing the maritime sector, emphasize the importance of maritime safety and security and the Kingdom's commitment to international agreements, and strengthen its active role within the IMO while reinforcing its position as a global logistics hub.
The authority added that Saudi Arabia's participation reflects its continued commitment to contributing to the development of global maritime policies and expanding cooperation with countries and international organizations.
