كشفت السلطات السورية عن ضبط 226 قنبلة كانت مخبأة داخل سيارة في طريقها إلى لبنان، وذلك في أحدث عملية أمنية تعلنها دمشق ضمن حملتها لمكافحة التهريب.

وتأتي هذه الضبطيات في إطار تعزيز الرقابة على الحدود السورية، التي تشهد حركة تهريب نشطة نحو لبنان والعراق.

وأوضحت أمانة جمارك جديدة يابوس، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أنه تم العثور على 226 قنبلة من نوع «RGC» مخبأة بإحكام في تجاويف سرية داخل إحدى السيارات المتجهة إلى الأراضي اللبنانية، وذلك في إطار جهود الهيئة العامة للمنافذ والجمارك لمكافحة التهريب وتعزيز أمن المعابر.


وكانت السلطات السورية قد أعلنت الأسبوع الماضي إحباط محاولة لتهريب شحنة كبيرة من الأسلحة والصواريخ عبر الحدود مع العراق، كانت في طريقها إلى لبنان لصالح ما وصفته بـ«مليشيا حزب الله».


وأكدت أنها رصدت مركبة متوقفة ضمن النطاق الحدودي في ظروف أثارت الاشتباه، حيث جرى إخضاعها للتفتيش، ما أسفر عن ضبط شحنة من الأسلحة شملت صواريخ بعيدة المدى، وصواريخ موجهة مضادة للدروع، وطائرات مسيّرة.


وكشفت المصادر أن الشحنة المضبوطة كانت تضم نحو 150 طائرة مسيّرة مفخخة، إلى جانب صواريخ وقذائف متفجرة وأسلحة نوعية، وكانت في طريقها من العراق إلى لبنان مروراً بالأراضي السورية.


وأضافت المصادر أن السلطات السورية تمكنت من ضبط الشحنة على الحدود السورية - العراقية قبل دخولها إلى العمق السوري، في عملية أمنية نُفذت بعد متابعة استخباراتية، فيما لا تزال التحقيقات مستمرة لتحديد الجهات التي تقف وراء محاولة التهريب ومسار نقل الأسلحة.


تأتي العملية في ظل تشديد السلطات السورية إجراءاتها الأمنية على المعابر والحدود، بالتزامن مع تصاعد التوترات الإقليمية واتساع المواجهة بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، وما رافقها من مخاوف بشأن تنقل الأسلحة عبر المنطقة.

The Syrian authorities announced the seizure of 226 bombs inside a vehicle heading to Lebanon, in the latest operation reported by Damascus as part of its efforts to combat smuggling activities.


The Customs Office of Jdeidet Yabous reported today (Tuesday) that 226 bombs of the "RGC" type were found hidden securely in secret compartments of one of the vehicles heading to Lebanese territory, as part of the General Authority for Ports and Customs' efforts to combat smuggling and enhance border security.


Last week, the Syrian authorities announced the thwarting of an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of weapons and missiles across the border with Iraq, which was on its way to Lebanon for what they described as "Hezbollah militia."


They confirmed that they monitored a vehicle parked within the border area under suspicious circumstances, which was subjected to inspection, resulting in the seizure of a shipment of weapons that included long-range missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, and drones.


Sources revealed that the seized shipment included about 150 explosive-laden drones, along with missiles, explosive shells, and sophisticated weapons, and was on its way from Iraq to Lebanon passing through Syrian territory.


The sources added that the Syrian authorities managed to seize the shipment at the Syrian-Iraqi border before it entered deep into Syrian territory, in a security operation carried out after intelligence monitoring, while investigations are still ongoing to identify the parties behind the smuggling attempt and the route of the weapons transfer.


This operation comes amid the tightening of security measures by the Syrian authorities at the crossings and borders, coinciding with rising regional tensions and the widening confrontation between the United States and Iran, along with concerns about the movement of weapons across the region.
