واشنطن تكشف هوية جنديين قُتِلا في اعتداء إيراني على الأردن

أفصحت الإدارة الأمريكية عن اسمي جنديين قتلا في الأسبوع الماضي خلال عملية عسكرية ضمن إطار المواجهة مع إيران.

يأتي هذا الكشف في وقت تتزايد فيه التوترات بين واشنطن وطهران على خلفية الهجمات المتبادلة في المنطقة.

وبحسب بيان وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية الصادر اليوم الاثنين، فإن الملازم أول تايلر جيمس فيهان (25 عامًا) من هاواي، والجندية إيزابيلا غونزاليس (19 عامًا) من تكساس، لقيا حتفهما في الأردن أثناء دعمهما لعملية أمريكية لمكافحة تنظيم داعش. ولم تكشف تفاصيل الحادثة بعد، وفق وكالة أسوشيتد برس.

وكانت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية قد أعلنت يوم السبت مصرع جنديين في الأردن أثناء تصديهما لهجمات إيرانية بصواريخ باليستية وطائرات مسيرة، وأفاد الجيش بأن حصيلة القتلى في النزاع مع إيران ارتفعت إلى 17.

وكانت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية أعلنت، الأحد، مقتل جندي أمريكي في شمال العراق، يوم السبت، إثر انفجار مُتحكم به لذخيرة غير منفجرة من طائرة إيرانية مُسيّرة أُسقطت. وأُصيب جندي آخر بجروح طفيفة ويتلقى العلاج الطبي.

وأفاد الجيش بأنه سيُؤجل الإدلاء بمزيد من المعلومات لحين مرور 24 ساعة على إبلاغ عائلات الضحايا.

ووسعت الولايات المتحدة نطاق عملياتها العسكرية داخل إيران لتشمل البنية التحتية إلى جانب الأهداف العسكرية، بعدما استهدفت جسوراً ومحطات سكك حديدية وأبراج مراقبة بحرية ورادارات وخطوط كهرباء في هرمزجان وبندر عباس وسيستان وبلوشستان. ويعكس التحول إستراتيجية تستهدف عزل الساحل الإيراني وتقليص قدرات الحرس الثوري على إدارة العمليات ومراقبة الملاحة في مضيق هرمز.

The U.S. administration has revealed the identities of two soldiers who were killed in a military operation last week as part of the war with Iran.

The Department of Defense announced in a statement today (Monday) that First Lieutenant Tyler James Vihan, 25, from Iowa Beach, Hawaii, and Private Isabella Gonzalez, 19, from Carrollton, Texas, were killed in Jordan, where they were supporting a U.S. mission against ISIS. The circumstances of their deaths are still unclear, according to the Associated Press.

The U.S. Central Command announced on Saturday that two soldiers were killed in Jordan while defending against Iranian missile and drone attacks, and the U.S. military reported that the total number of casualties in the war with Iran has reached 17.

On Sunday, the U.S. Central Command announced that an American soldier was killed in northern Iraq on Saturday due to a controlled explosion of unexploded munitions from a downed Iranian drone. Another soldier sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

The military stated that it would delay providing further information until 24 hours have passed since notifying the families of the victims.

The United States has expanded its military operations within Iran to include infrastructure alongside military targets, having targeted bridges, railway stations, maritime observation towers, radar systems, and power lines in Hormozgan, Bandar Abbas, and Sistan and Baluchestan. This shift reflects a strategy aimed at isolating the Iranian coast and reducing the Revolutionary Guard's capabilities to manage operations and monitor navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
