في ظاهرة فلكية وسياحية فريدة، تتصدر مدينة دونيدين النيوزيلندية مشهداً عالمياً من الاستعدادات المكثفة لحجز الفنادق والغرف، ليس لموسم العطلات، بل لاستقبال حدث كوني مذهل يحدث بعد عامين.

تعتبر ظاهرة الكسوف الكلي للشمس من أندر الأحداث الفلكية، حيث تحدث مرة كل بضع سنوات في بقعة محددة من الأرض، وتجذب آلاف السياح وعشاق الفلك.

الخبر الذي أثار ضجة واسعة وسلطت عليه الضوء صحيفة «الغارديان» البريطانية، كشف استنفار آلاف السياح ومطاردي الظواهر الطبيعية لحجز أماكنهم مبكراً، لرؤية المشهد السينمائي الذي سيعيد رسم خريطة السماء.

النهار يتحول إلى ليل دامس

وفقاً للحسابات الفلكية الدقيقة، سيتوقف الزمن في 22 يوليو 2028 الساعة 4:17 مساءً، إذ يحجب القمر ضوء الشمس بالكامل ويلقي ظلاً على مساحة عرضها 100 كيلومتر تمتد من مدينة كوينزتاون غرباً إلى دونيدين شرقاً، وتستمر الظلمة نهاراً لمدة دقيقتين و51 ثانية.

لكن المفاجأة الفلكية الأكبر والأكثر إذهالاً يفجرها التاريخ، إذ أعلن الدكتور إيان غريفين عالم الفلك ومدير متحف «توهورا أوتاغو»، أن آخر كسوف كلي مرت به هذه البقعة من الأرض كان في عام 1163. وقال إن «هذا يعني أن الحدث الأخير وقع قبل أن يستوطن البشر نيوزيلندا بالأساس.. السكّان الحاليون والزوار المسافرون إليها سيكونون أول بشر في التاريخ يشهدون هذا المشهد من هذا الجزء من العالم!»

هذا الكسوف الكلي، وهو الأول من نوعه في نيوزيلندا منذ عام 1965، دفع السلطات للاستعداد لاستقبال طوفان من الزوار يتجاوز عددهم 35 ألف شخص، لينضموا إلى سكان المدينة البالغ عددهم 130 ألف نسمة.

وما يزيد الموقف غرابة وتثويقاً، أن الظلام سيبتلع المدينة في منتصف فصل الشتاء النيوزيلندي، وتحديداً عقب أيام قليلة من احتفالات «ماتاريكي» (رأس السنة الماورية الفلكية)، إذ تعكف المدينة حالياً على بناء مهرجان ليلي أسطوري يمزج بين أساطير السكان الأصليين ورعب الظلام المباغت، في ليلة حُجزت أسرتها بالكامل قبل أن تبدأ!

According to definitive astronomical calculations, time will stop on July 22, 2028, at 4:17 PM, as the moon will pass directly in front of the sun, completely blocking its light, casting a geographical strip 100 kilometers wide into pitch darkness during the day that lasts for 2 minutes and 51 seconds, from the city of "Queenstown" in the west to "Dunedin" in the east.

However, the biggest and most astonishing astronomical surprise is revealed by history, as Dr. Ian Griffin, an astronomer and director of the "Toitū Otago" museum, announced that the last total eclipse experienced by this part of the Earth was in 1163. He stated, "This means that the last event occurred before humans even settled in New Zealand... the current residents and visitors traveling there will be the first people in history to witness this scene from this part of the world!"

This unique cosmic event, which New Zealand has not seen anywhere in its territory since 1965, has prompted authorities to prepare for a flood of people exceeding 35,000 visitors who will join the city's population of 130,000 residents.
