Saudi Arabia secured four awards at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO 2026), raising its overall tally to 53 international medals: 17 silver, 34 bronze, and two honorable mentions.

The 58th IChO, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from July 10 to 19, saw the Saudi team compete alongside 363 students from 92 countries in one of the world's leading chemistry competitions.

Ali Ahmed Baouzir, from the Riyadh General Directorate of Education, and Ali Salem Al Yamy, from the Najran General Directorate of Education, each won a silver medal.

The achievement reflects the advanced scientific level reached by Saudi students and their ability to compete in one of the world's most prestigious chemistry competitions.

The accomplishment follows an intensive year-long preparation and qualification program organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Ministry of Education under the Mawhiba International Olympiads Program.

The students participated in a series of theoretical and practical training forums and camps both inside and outside the Kingdom.
