The Iraqis are awaiting the announcement of new figures falling into the swamp of corruption in the coming hours.

Sources in the Prime Minister's office revealed to "Okaz" that a meeting is anticipated between Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi and the Coordination Framework forces to discuss the details related to the anti-corruption file and the mechanisms to end the manifestations of political immunity for those accused of involvement in allegations of public fund waste.

The sources confirmed that the meeting focuses on building a clear mechanism to lift political immunity from those involved in cases or allegations of corruption, regardless of their political or party positions. They indicated that the meeting is scheduled to take place this evening (Wednesday), with a likelihood of postponement until after Al-Zaydi's visit to Tehran.

According to the same sources, the meeting will discuss files involving 12 prominent political and party figures whose owners face allegations and charges of money laundering and public fund waste, to officially refer them to the judiciary. The sources disclosed that "the previous meeting of the Coordination Framework witnessed a divergence of opinions after news circulated about financial suspicions concerning leaders and figures with significant political weight in the scene."

The sources pointed out that there are confirmations on the necessity of lifting political immunity from anyone proven guilty by conclusive evidence, and recovering funds through various legal means, including activating international arrest warrants via the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

According to those sources, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of taking tangible and practical steps in this file and surpassing the limits of verbal political support, confirming that the anti-corruption campaign will witness stringent requirements affecting all levels without exception, in line with the procedures for recovering state funds.

The Iraqi government launched an anti-corruption campaign on June 28, describing it as the "first phase" of recovering public funds, which included the arrest of political officials, lawmakers, and businessmen as part of the "Dawn Assault" operation.

Government sources revealed the completion of legal procedures for the second phase, which targets corruption files in the ministries of health, oil, and electricity, and includes tracking funds and properties inside and outside Iraq, as well as preparing new lists of names of the accused, coinciding with ongoing investigations and taking stringent measures to ensure their confidentiality.

The government indicated that it is studying the draft law "Where did you get this from?" while the Integrity Commission confirmed that arrest warrants are executed under judicial supervision, as part of efforts to pursue the involved parties and recover public funds.
