David Morrison, Senior Advisor to the Canadian Prime Minister for Diplomatic and International Affairs, said that investment and trade relations between Canada and Saudi Arabia are at their best, stressing that the current visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to Saudi Arabia reflects the strength of the partnership between the two countries and the growing opportunities for economic cooperation.
Morrison added in a press statement on Thursday that the Prime Minister began his visit by meeting business leaders and senior investors, including Saudi investors in Canada, where Canadian investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia were discussed.

Digital economy and mining at the forefront of discussions
Morrison explained that the visit program includes a meeting between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in addition to Carney's participation in the investment forum, where he will deliver the closing speech.
He added that the discussions focused on strategic sectors including artificial intelligence, digital economy, mining, minerals, and infrastructure, stressing that Canadian companies have expertise that can contribute to supporting development in Saudi Arabia and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Workforce training a key focus of cooperation
Morrison pointed out that cooperation between Riyadh and Ottawa is not limited to economic aspects but extends to human resource development, through the contribution of Canadian institutes and colleges in training and qualifying Saudi cadres, describing it as a long-term investment in the future of the two countries.
He explained that the new projects focus primarily on modern technologies, most notably artificial intelligence, pointing to the announcement of major deals in the sector, along with initiatives aimed at training Saudis and preparing them for future jobs.

Morrison affirmed that digital transformation and the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence will affect various sectors, including mining, healthcare, and aviation, making the acquisition of digital skills a necessity for all segments of the workforce.
