Chinese airlines, including Air China, have announced that they will reduce the additional fuel fees on domestic flights within mainland China for tickets sold starting July 5th.

Under the new tariff, travelers will pay an additional fuel fee of 50 yuan (approximately 7.35 US dollars) for each flight segment for journeys not exceeding 800 kilometers, and 100 yuan for flights longer than that.

Infants will be exempt from paying the additional fuel fees, while children, disabled veterans, and police officers will benefit from a 50% discount on these fees.

Compared to the current fees, the additional fuel charges will decrease by 30 yuan for flights not exceeding 800 kilometers, and by 50 yuan for longer flights. China has also reduced retail prices for gasoline and diesel starting today (Saturday), marking the third consecutive cut and the largest percentage decrease in nearly six years.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that the National Development and Reform Commission stated that gasoline and diesel prices will drop by 950 yuan (approximately 139 US dollars) per ton and 915 yuan per ton, respectively.

According to the pricing mechanism in place in China, local gasoline and diesel prices are adjusted every ten working days in line with changes in global crude oil prices.
