The Saudi Arabian Football Federation officially approved Ahmed Al-Qunai'an as chairman of the election committee to fully oversee the electoral process and select a new board of directors to steer Saudi football in the coming period, in his capacity as chairman of the Appeals Committee.

The Federation's decision came after the extraordinary general assembly, and based on the provisions of the statutes and the election regulations, thus initiating the formal procedures to organize the anticipated electoral race.

Pursuant to the general assembly's decision, the names and leadership and legal positions that will manage the election file and ensure its integrity were approved. Al-Qunai'an will chair the election committee, which also includes Bandar Al-Hamidani as head of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, Dr. Ahmed Banamah as a member of the Appeals Committee, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Fadly as deputy head of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, and Issa bin Rabi' Al-Rayes as secretary of the committee.

This step comes at a highly important organizational phase for Saudi sports, coinciding with the opening of procedures to elect a new board of directors to lead the next electoral cycle. The general assembly at its last meeting approved a package of substantial amendments aimed at closing legal loopholes and developing institutional frameworks to ensure optimal governance and full transparency.

These regulations stipulate raising the number of members of the unified electoral list for the board of directors to 12 candidates (including a president, a vice president, and up to 10 members), with voting conducted under the block voting system with a single list via secret ballot.

The new laws also imposed an absolute ban on any forms of alliances and solidarity between competing lists, aiming to fully enhance the integrity and competitiveness of the electoral process.

The Federation clarified that the committee will immediately begin its coordination and implementation tasks. The general secretariat, through the legal department, will officially announce the program and timeline for the elections in the coming days.

The schedule will include precise details such as dates for opening nominations, appeal periods, stages of examination and verification of competing lists' files, and up to the final announcement of the winning board of directors.

The current board of directors will continue to manage daily operations and urgent administrative files until the electoral process is fully completed, in commitment to the stability of the sports process, and to pave the way for handing over the reins and delegating all powers to the anticipated board immediately upon the official announcement of the results.
