Asian stocks closed lower on Friday, as selling deepened in shares of chip and semiconductor companies.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 4.03% to 64,141.12 points at the close, after dropping 6.18% amid a global rout in chipmaker stocks. The broader Topix index fell 2.72% to 3,919.21 points.
The MSCI Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan fell 2.1%.
