Specialist: Economic growth in tourist destinations is a fruit of integration between government entities and the private sector
Tourism destination development specialist Dhaawi Al-Ghamdi praised the economic growth in tourist destinations.
Al-Ghamdi added, in an intervention on Al-Akhbariya channel, that economic growth in tourist destinations is a fruit of integration between government entities and the private sector.
He continued, that the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and other entities in integration with each other aim to achieve the strategic goal of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, to reach 150 million tourists by 2030 in addition to creating a number of jobs.
The tourism destination development specialist completed, that the past period witnessed the inclusion of six tourist destinations in a different and high-quality manner, which enhanced the reception of tourists there; as well as the benefits to the Kingdom's economy.
The tourism sector has witnessed continuous growth, as the Kingdom's destinations received during the Saudi Summer season more than 32 million local and international tourists with a growth rate of 26% compared to the previous season, and tourism spending exceeded 53.2 billion riyals with a growth of 15%, according to the annual report of the Quality of Life Program in 2025.
The Kingdom ranked first globally as the highest tourist destination in the growth rate of international tourist revenues during the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2019, according to the World Tourism Barometer report issued by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
As for the number of tourists, the number of international tourists arriving to various Saudi destinations has doubled, as the Kingdom recorded a growth of 102% in the number of international tourists during the first quarter, compared to 2019, significantly exceeding the global growth rate of 3% and the Middle East growth rate of 44%, and the Kingdom ranked third globally and second regionally; which enhances its leading position in the international tourism sector.
