Saudi Arabia Imports 661,000 Tons of Wheat to Boost Strategic Stock
The General Authority for Food Security has finalized the award of the fourth batch of imported wheat for 2026, totaling 661,000 tons, to be sourced from origins including the European Union, North and South America, Australia, and the Black Sea region, as part of its plans to enhance strategic reserves and ensure supply sustainability.
The Chairman of the Authority, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Fares, stated that contracting this batch aims to maintain safe levels of wheat stocks and meet the needs of Saudi mill companies.
Branches of the National Company for Grain Supplies 'Sable' are scheduled to receive shipments during September and October 2026 via 11 vessels, including four ships to Jeddah Islamic Port carrying 244,000 tons, six ships to Yanbu Commercial Port with a total of 362,000 tons, and one ship to Jazan Port carrying 55,000 tons.
The tender saw competition among 14 qualified global companies specialized in grain trading, with the quantities awarded to six companies after they submitted the lowest prices meeting the approved technical specifications.
