The inflation rate in the euro zone slowed in June to its lowest level in three months, recording 2.8%, compared to 3.2% in May, according to final data released Friday by the European Union's statistics office, Eurostat.

The recorded rate matched the initial estimates released at the beginning of July, while the core inflation rate fell to 2.4%, compared to 2.6% in the previous month.

The data showed energy price growth slowed to 8.5%, compared to 10.8% in May, and the inflation rate in the services sector fell from 3.5% to 3.2%. The pace of price increases for non-energy industrial goods slowed to 0.7%, compared to 0.9%, while the harmonized index of consumer prices fell on a monthly basis by a slight 0.1% in June.
