In Europe, the STOXX Europe 600 rose 0.82% to 644 points, posting a weekly gain of 0.47%.

The UK's FTSE 100 rose 0.91% to 10,736 points, Germany's DAX rose 1.36% to 25,099 points, and France's CAC 40 rose 0.88% to 8,372 points.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 2.73% to 64,611 points, and the broader Topix fell 1% to 4,011 points.

Regarding oil, Brent crude futures for September delivery fell 3.88%, or $3.91, to $96.78 per barrel.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for August delivery fell 3.12%, or $2.88, to $89.31 per barrel.

As for gold, August gold futures rose 0.51%, or $20.60, to $4,070.80 per ounce.
