Canadian Unifor union reaches agreement with Ford on 5,150 workers
The Canadian autoworkers union Unifor has reached a tentative agreement with American automaker Ford Motor Company regarding 5,150 unionized workers at Ford's facilities in Canada.
The agreement concerning Ford workers includes 707 workers at the Oakville Assembly Complex, 200 workers at the Windsor Engine Plant, and 4,243 workers at parts distribution centers in the cities of Paris, Casselman, Ontario, Leduc, and Alberta.
Negotiations between Ford Motor Company and the Canadian Unifor union began on June 22 of last year, according to the German news agency dpa.
Details of the preliminary agreement between company representatives and union representatives will be presented to workers during their scheduled meetings from July 17 to 19 this month for ratification.
The agreement received unanimous approval from the main negotiating committee of Unifor Ford, marking a significant step forward in labor relations between the union and the American automaker.
