Catalan Security Thwarts Disguised Burglary Attempt on Lamine Yamal's Palace

The private security system in Spain foiled a failed burglary attempt early Wednesday morning targeting the residence of Spanish international star and Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal, located in the upscale area of Esplugues de Llobregat in Catalonia.

The incident occurred at 4 a.m. Spanish time, according to local newspaper La Vanguardia citing security sources, as two thieves took advantage of the young player's absence while he is with the Spanish national team in the United States, following their historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup final.

Security guards spotted through surveillance cameras suspicious movements of two individuals wearing dark clothing and masks completely hiding their faces, while attempting to scale the outer wall of the palace.

Internal security teams activated the emergency protocol via loudspeakers integrated into the surveillance cameras, issuing direct warnings to the intruders.

The two individuals panicked and fled the scene immediately in an unknown direction, without being able to breach the building or steal any belongings.

After receiving the report, patrols of the Catalan regional police rushed to the scene, and security authorities launched an investigation by collecting forensic evidence and analyzing camera footage to identify the perpetrators.

Strong indications suggest the incident is linked to organized international gangs specialized in tracking and robbing homes of world football players, especially since the same residential area witnessed two additional attempted intrusions on the same night.

The targeted palace is the luxury property that Yamal recently purchased for about 11 million euros, previously owned by retired star Gerard Piqué.

The incident comes a few weeks after the player shared video clips from inside his new home via his official accounts on social media platforms.

Investigators believe this contributed to revealing details of the building's interior geography and potential vulnerabilities to criminal networks.
