"Discipline" suspends president of Qalwa club and Al-Houra player for match-fixing

The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation announced, on Monday, the ban of the president of Qalwa club and the suspension of Al-Houra club's player, after their involvement in cases related to illegal influence on the results of Saudi Third Division League matches.

The committee issued the first decision against the chairman of the board of directors of Qalwa club, Ali Al-Zahrani, confirming his violation. The punishment included banning him from participating in any sports activity related to football for 3 years, and obliging him to pay a fine of 300,000 riyals to the Saudi Federation, after completing investigations, hearing the statements of the concerned parties, and the statement of the Integrity Unit.

The penalties included Al-Houra club player Abdu Al-Mandili, convicted of the same charge of illegal influence on the results of Third Division League competitions. The committee decided to suspend the player for one year from participating in all official matches and fine him 100,000 riyals.

The committee explained that it reduced the penalty applied to Al-Mandili due to his initiative to cooperate with the investigation authorities. In conclusion of its statement, it indicated that both decisions issued today are appealable before the competent judicial bodies of the Federation, according to the Disciplinary and Ethics Regulations.
