Dow Jones adds 385 points at close despite geopolitical tensions
U.S. stocks rose at the close of trading Tuesday, with investors focused on the earnings season and positive performance in the semiconductor sector, largely ignoring the military developments between the United States and Iran.

At the close of the session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.74%, or 385 points, to 52,224 points.
The broader S&P 500 index rose 0.89%, or 65 points, to 7,509 points, and the Nasdaq Composite index rose 1.29%, or 329 points, to 25,837 points.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.56% to 643 points, supported by a 2% rise in the technology sector.
The UK's FTSE 100 also rose 0.58% to 10,585 points, Germany's DAX rose 0.66% to 25,011 points, and France's CAC 40 rose 0.28% to 8,363 points.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 jumped 3.26% to 66,232 points, and the broader Topix index rose 2.44% to 4,014 points.

Regarding oil, Brent crude futures for September delivery rose 2%, or $1.79, to $91.01 per barrel.
U.S. Nymex crude futures for August delivery rose 2%, or $1.68, to $84.91 per barrel.
For gold, gold futures for August delivery rose 1.50%, or $60.50, to $4,076.40 per ounce.
What is behind the market moves? Corporate earnings supported risk appetite on Wall Street, along with a rise in chip stocks. Hopes of reaching a truce between the US and Iran also helped calm investor fears, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices.
