Tim Clark, President of Emirates, said on Tuesday that the company expects to receive Boeing 777-9 aircraft during the second quarter of next year, as the wide-body plane, whose delivery has been delayed, nears certification.

Clark added to reporters, "It was supposed to be delivered in April 2020," and said it will be an "addition" to the company's fleet in 2027.

Emirates is the world's largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft and holds the largest order for the 777X model, which is a key element in the carrier's future plans to meet growing travel demand and support the expansion of its international network.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration told Reuters on Monday that it expects the aircraft to receive certification in late this year or early next year.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates, also confirmed that the carrier expects to resume operations at about 90% of its operational capacity starting from next August, as part of restoring operations and enhancing its flight network.
