Extra CEO: We expect electronics prices to rise by 25%... and we are working with suppliers to absorb as much of the increases as possible

Ali Ahmed Mansour, CEO of United Electronics Company - Extra

Ali Mansour, CEO of Extra, said that consumers wishing to buy electronic devices or laptops may face price increases ranging between 20% and 25% on some categories, especially products affected by higher costs of electronic components and global shipping. In an interview with Al Arabiya, he explained that some computers and tablets have seen price increases of up to about 20%, while prices of electronic gaming devices rose by about 20%, and price increases for televisions ranged between 15% and 25% depending on the brand. He added that the computer market is also facing pressures related to the global rise in chip prices, a factor not directly linked to current regional conditions. He pointed to a shortage of iPhone supplies from Apple since mid-February, despite strong demand for devices during the first two months of the year. He stated that the company is working with suppliers to absorb as much of these increases as possible, but part of the additional costs will ultimately be reflected in selling prices for consumers, indicating that shipping costs remain at very high levels compared to previous rates, which adds further pressure on prices of electronic and home appliances in the coming period. He noted that the company had committed to purchasing huge quantities of goods before the outbreak of the Iran war, raising inventory value to about 1.88 billion riyals ahead of the Mega Sale campaign. According to Argaam data, profits of United Electronics Company Extra, which retails electronic and home appliances, rose to 197.2 million riyals at the end of the first half of 2026, an increase of 2% compared to profits of 192.7 million riyals achieved during the same period of 2025, with second quarter profits reaching 102.6 million riyals (-4%).
