Bank branches in Saudi Arabia rise to 1915 by end of Q1 2026

The number of bank branches operating in Saudi Arabia increased slightly in the first quarter of 2026 to 1915 branches, compared to 1910 branches at the end of 2025.

This stability in branch numbers coincides with the banks' accelerating digital transformation, as banking services via smart applications and electronic platforms now cover most customer needs, reducing the need to expand traditional branches and lowering operational costs.

The number of bank branches in Saudi Arabia saw continuous growth between 2006 and 2017, rising from 1289 branches to a peak of 2076 branches in 2019, then gradually declined between 2018 and 2023, before a slight increase in 2024 and 2025, stabilizing at 1910 branches.

Al Ahli Saudi Bank recorded the largest increase in branches during Q1 2026, adding 4 branches to reach 485, while Al Arabi National Bank saw the largest decrease, cutting 4 branches to 117.

Al Rajhi Bank retained the top spot in terms of branch count with a total of 512 branches, followed by Al Ahli Saudi Bank with 485 branches, then Riyad Bank with 226 branches, as shown in the table below:
