The hotel room occupancy rate in Saudi Arabia during the first quarter of 2026 reached 60.8%, down 2.1% compared to the same quarter of 2025, where the hotel room occupancy rate was 63%, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics.

In contrast, the occupancy rate for serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities rose to 51.6% during the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 1% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when the occupancy rate was 50.7%.

9% increase in the number of tourism establishments

According to tourism establishment statistics for the first quarter, the number of tourism establishments in Saudi Arabia with employees reached approximately 177,031 during Q1 2026, an increase of 9% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when it was 162,473 establishments.

22% growth in licensed hospitality facilities

The total number of licensed tourist hospitality facilities in Saudi Arabia during the first quarter of 2026 reached about 6,122 facilities, up 22.7% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when it was 4,988 facilities.

Serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities accounted for 51.6% of the total in Q1 2026, with 3,159 facilities, while the number of hotels reached 2,963, representing 48.4% of total licensed tourist hospitality facilities during the same period.

Average hotel room prices

The average daily rate for a hotel room during Q1 2026 was 423 Saudi riyals, a decrease of 11.4% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when the average rate was 477 riyals. The average daily rate for serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities was 206 Saudi riyals during Q1 2026, a decrease of 1.2% compared to Q1 2025, when the average daily rate was 209 riyals.

Average length of guest stay

The average length of stay in hotels was 4.2 nights during Q1 2026, an increase of 2% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when the average stay was 4.1 nights. The average length of stay in serviced apartments and other hospitality facilities was 2.2 nights during the same period, up 1.2% from the same quarter of 2025, when the average stay was 2.1 nights.

Employment in tourism activities

The total number of workers in tourism activities during the first quarter of 2026 reached 1,047,313, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same quarter of 2025, when the number of workers was 983,253. The number of Saudi workers was 250,094, representing 23.9% of the total, while non-Saudi workers numbered 797,219, or 76.1% of the total.
