Indonesia seeks to boost role of palm oil in bioenergy
Indonesian Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that Indonesia has strong potential to become a major player in the field of palm oil-based bioenergy through innovation, processing of final products, and international cooperation with Russia and Eurasian countries.
The minister said in a statement: "Through innovation, processing of final products, and international cooperation, we want the palm oil industry to not only be a driver of the national economy but also part of the solution for achieving energy security and sustainable industrial development."
On July 7, Indonesia participated in the forum "Palm Oil and the Future of Sustainable Energy" held in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, according to the German news agency dpa.
According to Kartasasmita, Indonesia's participation reflects the government's commitment to expanding market access for local industries through stronger global partnerships.
With the increasing global demand for clean energy, he said Indonesia offers its expertise and industrial capabilities in developing palm oil-based bioenergy as a field of cooperation that brings mutual benefits.
