ISTANBUL/AA

Iraq announced on Friday its intention to sign 50 agreements and memoranda of understanding with the US side, with a total value of $60 billion.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted its correspondent in Washington as saying that Iraq will sign the agreements and memoranda of understanding with the US side.

On Monday, al-Zaidi arrived in Washington at the head of a high-level government delegation, in his first foreign visit since assuming the premiership in May 2026, to hold talks with US President Donald Trump and sign memoranda of understanding in the oil and gas sectors.

The agency did not provide details regarding the signing date, the parties and companies involved, or the sectors covered by the agreements.

Earlier on Friday, al-Zaidi emphasized the strength of the economic partnership with the United States during his participation in a large business conference organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, attended by a number of businessmen, bankers, representatives of American companies, financial institutions, and industrial and technological sectors.
