The Jazan region is witnessing the launch of a pioneering agricultural project for greenhouses and smart farming, with investments exceeding 600 million Saudi Riyals. This project embodies the region's direction to establish itself as a national center for modern agriculture and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy and increase the agricultural sector's contribution to development.

The project is part of the efforts of the Strategic Office for the Development of Jazan Region to attract high-quality investments and turn investment opportunities into practical partnerships. These partnerships contribute to transferring modern technologies and localizing knowledge, thereby raising agricultural production efficiency and enhancing the region's competitiveness locally and regionally.

The project will be established on a total area of 1 million square meters, including 500,000 square meters allocated for high-tech greenhouses and another 500,000 square meters for tropical fruit production. It leverages Jazan's favorable climate, making it one of the Kingdom's most prominent regions qualified to expand tropical crop production and build an integrated value chain from production to manufacturing and export.

The project relies on applying the latest smart farming technologies through advanced climate management systems inside greenhouses, closed irrigation systems for water recycling, and modern techniques that reduce water consumption by up to 75%. This enhances natural resource efficiency and aligns with environmental sustainability trends.

Technology transfer is one of the project's key pillars, as it involves a Saudi-Dutch partnership that enables the transfer of best global practices and expertise to the Jazan region, supports the localization of modern agricultural technologies, and enhances local content in this sector.

The project is expected to provide more than 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, in addition to stimulating investments in agricultural value chains and supporting production-related industries and services such as packaging, cooling, logistics, and food processing.

The Jazan region has a well-established agricultural base that enhances the viability of this project. It is one of the Kingdom's leading regions in tropical fruit production, with over 3 million fruit trees producing more than 113,000 tons annually. This boosts the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the region and opens broad horizons for manufacturing and export.
