Kahramaa launches its summer campaign 'Nabi ha Tadum' to promote electricity and water conservation

Doha, June 10 (QNA) - The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) announced the launch of its awareness campaign for summer 2026 under the slogan 'Nabi ha Tadum', as part of its efforts to strengthen a culture of responsible electricity and water consumption and to establish principles of environmental sustainability in Qatari society.

The campaign coincides with the summer season, which sees a significant rise in electricity and water consumption rates due to heavy reliance on air conditioning and increased demand for resources, placing additional strain on the electrical grid and increasing loads during peak hours.

The campaign aims to bring about sustainable behavioral change in electricity and water consumption patterns by raising community awareness of the importance of optimal resource use, thereby contributing to the stability of the electrical grid, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting efforts to achieve sustainable development goals in Qatar.

The 'Nabi ha Tadum' campaign is based on four main pillars: managing electrical loads by educating consumers about the importance of distributing the use of high-consumption appliances and avoiding their operation during peak hours; improving building and appliance efficiency by encouraging the use of high-efficiency appliances and implementing smart systems to control consumption.

The campaign's pillars also include rationalizing water and air conditioning consumption by promoting best practices, such as adjusting air conditioner temperatures and adopting modern irrigation techniques, along with shifting towards smart behavior by utilizing modern solutions and technologies to monitor and manage consumption efficiently.

The campaign relies on a set of awareness messages aimed at promoting rational consumption behavior, most notably: improving the efficiency of air conditioner use, avoiding the operation of heavy electrical appliances during peak hours from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, using high energy-efficiency appliances, and taking the initiative to repair water leaks to reduce waste.

The campaign is scheduled to last three months from June to August 2026, and includes implementing a package of initiatives and interactive activities, including community challenges to enhance participation, direct field events, digital awareness campaigns across various platforms, as well as partnerships with government and private entities.

Kahramaa emphasized that the success of the campaign depends on the awareness and interaction of community members, noting that simple daily practices in consumption rationalization can contribute to a significant and sustainable impact on resource conservation.

The corporation explained that the 'Nabi ha Tadum' campaign represents an open national call to enhance community participation in preserving natural resources and improving quality of life, ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
