Brent crude futures prices jumped 4% on Tuesday, reaching around $86.5 per barrel, following the US military carrying out strikes against Iran for the third consecutive day.

According to Tuesday's trading, Brent crude futures jumped 4% to around $86.5 per barrel, while US crude futures increased 2.8% to about $80.2 per barrel at 10:00 GMT.

On Tuesday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of the latest wave of attacks on military targets in Iran.

It said in a statement: 'During the 5-hour mission, US forces successfully struck military targets across Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.'

The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026.

For days, the United States has been launching attacks on Iran under the pretext of retaliation for Tehran targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

In June 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, paving the way for a final agreement to end the war, before US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire amid renewed escalation.
