Leaves fell and Toney's leaf remained... Will he reach the 2026 World Cup final?
The leaves of Saudi Roshn League players fell one by one in the 2026 World Cup, until only one leaf remained standing in the race for the title.
Englishman Ivan Toney, Al-Ahli striker, became the only foreign player from the Saudi league to continue his journey in the tournament, as his country's national team approaches a crucial match against Argentina in the semi-finals.
The winner will face Spain in the final next Sunday.

21 foreign players from Saudi Roshn League clubs participated with their national teams in the 2026 World Cup, but 20 of them left the competition successively, whether from the group stage or the knockout rounds.
Toni remained alone as the representative of the Saudi league in the tournament, despite not having started any match as a starter yet, only appearing from the bench with the England national team.
The English bet
Attention turns to the England-Argentina semi-final clash, as victory would give Toney a chance to reach the final, making him the first professional player in the Roshn League to reach the final of the current World Cup edition.
The market value of the English striker is 20 million euros, according to data from Transfermarkt.

However, the successive exits of the teams left Toney alone in the competition, while the club earlier announced it would not renew the contracts of Mahrez and Kessié.

The Last Leaf
After 39 days of competition and participation of 46 teams, no player from the Roshn League remains in the World Cup except Ivan Toney.
While all other leaves have fallen, the English leaf remains alone, hanging on the hope of reaching the final, waiting for the outcome of the England-Argentina match.
