Dr. Abdullah Al-Sulom, Assistant Professor of Finance at Imam University, said that the results of the Saudi banking sector in the second quarter of 2026 were very positive, despite the increase in provisions for most banks and the growth of deposits exceeding lending.

Al-Sulom added that the results were better than the average market expectations, except for Alinma Bank, which recorded performance below expectations.

He said that First Bank and Arab Bank stood out in the efficiency of provisions management during the second quarter of 2026.

He explained that geopolitical tensions and the state of anticipation regarding the monetary policy path are among the most prominent factors that limited lending growth.
