Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority announced that Saudi Arabia's Acwa Power has emerged as the sole participant in the tender for the "Al Hidd" Independent Water Station project, a major seawater desalination project aimed at enhancing drinking water supplies in the kingdom.

The project is scheduled to be implemented under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, with a capacity exceeding 11,300 cubic meters per hour, contributing to meeting the growing water demand from residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

The project reflects Bahrain's direction to expand its desalination capabilities through private sector participation and the use of advanced water treatment technologies, supporting long-term supply sustainability and reliability.
