Chinese Consul in Jeddah, Yang Yi, said that investment relations between Saudi Arabia and China are witnessing rapid growth, driven by expanding cooperation in the traditional and renewable energy sectors.

He noted that Saudi companies are also visiting China to explore investment opportunities and partnerships in the renewable energy sector, reflecting the growing cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Yang added that a number of Chinese companies have investments in infrastructure projects in Makkah and Madinah, with an effort to enhance cooperation in the western region, particularly in Jeddah.

He explained that China is currently Saudi Arabia's top trading partner, while the Kingdom is China's largest trading partner in the Middle East, noting that the two countries are experiencing growth in mutual investments and practical cooperation.

According to the consul, the two countries attach great importance to enhancing political trust, expanding economic cooperation, and supporting trade exchange between them.

In recent years, the trade volume between China and Saudi Arabia has stabilized at over $100 billion annually. China mainly exports electromechanical products, machinery, vehicles, furniture, and steel to Saudi Arabia, while importing mainly mineral fuel, chemical products, and plastics.

In the first two months of this year—the latest available data—the trade volume between China and Saudi Arabia reached $17.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, including Chinese exports to Saudi Arabia worth $9.8 billion, up 18.7%.

The Chinese consul pointed out that the world is witnessing major transformations unseen in a century, as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East escalate, conflicts multiply, and the post-World War II international system faces intertwined crises, while global governance and its challenges worsen.
