Strong Warning to Egypt National Team Players Over Social Media
Egypt national team manager Ibrahim Hassan has warned players against "excessive" use of social media in the coming days, ahead of their match against Australia in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.
Egypt reached the knockout stages for the first time in their history after finishing second in Group 7 with 5 points, trailing group leaders Belgium on goal difference.
According to "Youm7" website, the team manager urged players to focus and limit their use of social media during the upcoming period.
Ibrahim, brother of team coach Hossam Hassan, issued the warning after recent days saw celebrations that some considered "excessive" following qualification to the knockout rounds.
The match will be played next Friday at 9:00 PM Cairo and Saudi time.
The team welcomed back Hamdy Fathy and Hossam Abdel Maguid after recovering from injury, while Mohamed Abdelmoneim and Ahmed Fatouh were ruled out by the coaching staff after sustaining injuries against Iran.
Mohamed Salah is expected to start after suffering a "minor injury" in the match against Iran as well.
