French company TotalEnergies' quarterly profit rose 67% year-on-year in the second quarter of this year to around $6 billion.

The profit growth was supported by rising oil prices, along with improved refining margins, amid the repercussions of geopolitical tensions and the Iranian war that affected energy markets.

The results exceeded the level of the same period last year and were in line with the average analyst expectations surveyed by LSEG.

The results reflect the company's benefit from the improved energy price environment and refining margins in the second quarter, despite continued uncertainty in global markets.
