Badr Al-Wuhaibi Historical Museum (Al-Uqaylat)! - Ibrahim bin Saad Al-Majid
Al-Uqaylat, this name that symbolizes patience and perseverance, honesty and trustworthiness, as the caravans of Al-Uqaylat were not merely commercial journeys for their owners, but journeys that combined trade and culture, and carried chivalry and honesty.
These caravans, which bring together many names of families from Najd, especially from the Qassim region, have a cultural, social, and even political history.
In the museum of Dr. Badr Al-Wuhaibi, this exemplary museum, on which large sums were undoubtedly spent, this history and related aspects have been documented at different stages through Arabic and foreign documents, as well as rare photographs that tell another history.
During my visit to this museum in the city of Buraidah, I was delighted by what I heard from Dr. Badr about his domestic and international travels and the documents and correspondence he obtained, which are of utmost importance and acquiring them is considered a precious catch!
He told us about a deep-rooted history that many people may not know, and he told us about men from Al-Uqaylat who had a prominent role in the founding of the Kingdom in the diplomatic, military, and economic fields.
Arabs and the peoples of the Middle East
Al-Uqaylat, this prominent landmark in our Saudi history, is worthy of being a subject of study due to its extremely important dimensions.
The men of Al-Uqaylat were principled, known by everyone who dealt with them in various Arab countries, even non-Muslims, as dealing with an Uqayli was akin to dealing with the most established financial institution of this era.
We return to Dr. Badr Al-Wuhaibi's museum, which was designed for this purpose, and it provided a generous display space to view many documents and artifacts that give you adequate knowledge of this precious cultural and social heritage.
Visiting this historical museum is in fact a visit to a unique historical era in all its details.
A tribute of appreciation to Dr. Badr Al-Wuhaibi for this great effort built over decades.
