The family feud between American stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continues to cast a shadow over their children, as Vivienne, the youngest daughter of the former couple, has joined her siblings who have decided to drop the surname 'Pitt' from their official names. This step comes amid a series of legal actions taken by several of the couple's children in recent months, a new indication of ongoing tension within the family years after their parents' separation.

Vivienne, the youngest daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has filed a formal request to change her family name and remove the surname 'Pitt', making her the fourth child of the couple to seek to drop their father's surname, according to The Independent.

One week after turning 18, Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt filed a petition with the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, and the court set November 2 as the date to consider the request.

Several media reports indicated that the reason given in court documents for the name change was classified as 'personal reason', without further details.

Shiloh, a dancer and the first biological daughter of the former couple, was the first to officially change her name after turning 18 in 2024, and has since been known as Shiloh Jolie.

Vivienne's request follows similar steps taken by Maddox, 24, and Zahara, 21, who published legal notices in newspapers earlier this month in preparation for removing the surname 'Pitt' from their names.

Publishing a public notice is a legal requirement in California to complete name change procedures. Court documents, seen by media, revealed that Maddox and Zahara published this notice four times a week throughout June, in compliance with legal procedures.

The notice also included an invitation for anyone wishing to object to the name change request to submit a written objection before the final hearing scheduled for September. If no objection is filed, the judge is expected to approve the request.

Angelina Jolie, 51, and Brad Pitt, 62, separated in 2016 after a relationship that lasted more than a decade, and they have six children: Maddox (24), Pax (22), Zahara (21), Shiloh (20), and twins Knox and Vivienne (18).

The roots of the family rift go back to an incident on a private jet in 2016, when Brad Pitt allegedly got into a heated argument with his then-wife and children.

The FBI investigated allegations of child abuse stemming from that incident, before Brad Pitt was cleared of all charges. However, details of what allegedly occurred on the private jet later emerged in the couple's divorce proceedings, which were revealed in 2022.
