(CNN) -- Egyptian composer Hani Shnouda passed away on Monday at the age of 83. The Musicians Syndicate in Egypt described him as "a symbol of giving and creativity," and he was mourned by the Supreme Council of Culture and artist Amr Diab.

A statement from the syndicate said: "The Musicians Syndicate, with great sorrow and grief, mourns the great musician Hani Shnouda, who left our world today after an exceptional artistic career during which he enriched the musical life in Egypt and the Arab world with his immortal creations."

The statement pointed out that the late artist "was one of the most prominent pioneers of modern music, with an unforgettable artistic imprint in composition and musical arrangement, and in discovering and nurturing many talents that enriched the artistic scene."

The Musicians Syndicate in Egypt extended its "deepest condolences and sincere sympathy" to the family of artist Hani Shnouda, and "to all artists, musicians, and his fans in Egypt and the Arab world."

Artist Amr Diab posted on his official Instagram account a photo in which he places a kiss on the late musician's forehead, and wrote: "Sincere condolences to the family of the great musician Hani Shnouda on the loss of the dear departed, who left a great artistic legacy and contributed to shaping the consciousness of entire generations through his music and creativity... His works will remain immortal, and his name will always be present in the history of Arabic music."

The late artist was born in the city of Tanta in 1943, in the heart of the Nile Delta, the administrative capital of Gharbia Governorate, north of Cairo. He graduated from the College of Music Education in 1966, then completed his academic studies at the Higher Institute of Music (Conservatory).

Shnouda is considered one of the most prominent renewers in Egyptian music. He founded the famous band "Al-Masryeen" in the late 1970s, and during that period contributed to shaping the identity of artist Mohamed Mounir, who was at the beginning of his artistic career, and composed the album "Allamouni Ayniki" for him. He also played an important role in the launch of artist Amr Diab and composed four songs from his first album "Ya Tareeq" in the early 1980s, including the album's title track and the song "Al-Zaman."

He also composed for the late folk artist Ahmed Adaweya one of his most famous songs, "Zahma Ya Donya Zahma," and composed the melodies for the songs "Ana Ba'ashaq El-Bahr" and "Ba7lam Ma'ak" for artist Najat Al-Saghira.

Shnouda composed the soundtracks for dozens of Egyptian films, including: "Al-Mashboh", "Al-Ghoul", "Al-Hareef", "Shams Al-Zanaty", "Asabat Hamada wa Toto", "Ghareeb fi Bayti", "Al-Afokato", and "Emra'a Wahida La Takfi."

During his artistic career spanning more than five decades, the late artist received several awards, including the State Appreciation Award in Arts in 2023. Earlier that same year, Hani Shnouda was honored in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, at a ceremony organized by the General Entertainment Authority, which featured stars Mohamed Mounir and Amr Diab, both of whom expressed their gratitude to him and their happiness at his recognition.

The night of "Memories with Musician Hani Shnouda" in Riyadh witnessed moving moments in which Egyptian folk singer Ahmed Adaweya performed his famous song "Zahma Ya Donya" in partnership with Mustafa Hajjaj.
