‘Saudi Films 12’ Concludes Activities and Crowns Winners
The Saudi Film Festival concluded its activities, organized by the Cinema Association, in partnership with Ithra Center, and with support from the Film Commission, in its twelfth edition, by crowning the winners of the official competition awards and announcing several features of the upcoming edition of the festival, at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran.
The festival featured the screening of 50 films distributed across feature-length fiction, short fiction, and documentary competitions, as well as parallel screenings, the 'Spotlight on Korean Cinema' program, the 'Cinema of the Journey' focus, in addition to the Production Market and seminars.
The festival saw a notable professional presence through the Production Market, which concluded with 51 financial and service awards worth over 4 million riyals, compared to about 2.5 million riyals in the eleventh edition.
Awards: * Golden Palm Award for Best Feature Film: 'Hijra' by director Shahad Ameen. * Golden Palm Award for Best Acting: Artist Sarah Taibah for her role in the film 'A Matter of Life or Death'. * Golden Palm for Best Gulf Feature Film: 'Erkala... The Dream of Gilgamesh' by director Mohamed Al-Daradji. * Golden Palm for Best Short Film: 'Unknown' by director Ibrahim Al-Bukairi. * Abdullah Al-Muheisen Award for First Film: 'Ant's Scream' by director Lujain Salam. * Golden Palm for Best Gulf Short Fiction Film: 'A Seed' by director Salman Yusuf. * Golden Palm for Best Documentary: 'Gunpowder Fog' by director Saad Tuhaytih. * Jury Prize: Film 'Marjoj Hazazi' by director Mishal Al-Thubaiti. * Golden Palm for Best Gulf Documentary: 'Fariha' by director Badr Al-Reemi. * Special Mention from the Jury for the films: 'A Matter of Life or Death' by director Anas Batahif, 'Al-Sitr' by Roland Hassan and Sarah Masri, and 'Bagshat Saad' by director Mujbil Saad Al-Faraj.
