As the sole representative of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, and the Arab world, the Saudi theatrical production “Speak So I Can See You” is participating among an elite group of global performances at the Theater of the World festival in Chemnitz, Germany, this week.
This theatrical production previously participated in the Ithra Festival, where it won three awards: Best Integrated Performance, Best Text Preparation, and Best Leading Actress. It also took part in the Riyadh Theater Festival, winning the Best Supporting Actor award. The production continues to appear on Arab and international stages, with upcoming performances at the Zarqa Summer Theater Festival in September and the Different Spaces Festival in the Arab Republic of Egypt in November, along with other future engagements that reflect the work’s growing presence in the theater scene.
The play “Speak So I Can See You” belongs to the intersection of symbolic theater and theater of the absurd, relying on an abstract visual approach with intensified theatrical imagery and minimal realistic elements. The play is written and directed by Dr. Youssef Ahmed Al-Harbi, and stars Mohammed Al-Mutawa, Sawsan Al-Idrisi, Jawad Al-Sayegh, Mahdi Al-Merhoon, Mohammed Al-Marzouq, and Hawraa Al-Hazeem, with music and sound effects by Abdulaziz Al-Aswad.
