1873 infections and 672 deaths from Ebola recorded in the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 1,873 confirmed Ebola infections nationwide, including 672 deaths. The country's health authorities reported in a statement that the affected provinces are Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uélé, and Tshopo, with Haut-Uélé and Tshopo being included in the national report for the first time. They added that 763 patients are in isolation or receiving hospital treatment, while bed occupancy in treatment centers reached 95.1%. On May 15, the Democratic Republic of Congo declared the 17th outbreak of the Ebola virus in the country, and the World Health Organization issued an international health alert regarding the situation.
