A specialist in laboratory analysis at the Sayed Ali Al-Sulaiman Center in Qatif Governorate confirmed that pre-marital blood tests represent a health safety valve for society.
She revealed that 95% of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) detection cases worldwide are through blood tests.

Laboratory technician Hakima Al-Mutawa explained that medical tests focus on detecting common genetic diseases such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia in its types.

She added that the tests include screening for infectious diseases, such as the three types of viral hepatitis, in addition to detecting AIDS. Al-Mutawa stated during her recent participation in a health event in Qatif Governorate that syphilis has recently been added to the list of mandatory tests for those about to marry. She pointed out that samples are tested internally at the center or sent to Qatif Central Hospital and Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Hospital to accurately determine infection rates and whether the person is a carrier or infected.
