In a landmark procedure, the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs has carried out the Kingdom's first remote robotic surgery, known as telesurgery, on a patient at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah.

Remote surgery, also known as telesurgery, leverages robotic systems and high-speed communications to allow specialists to operate from distant locations, expanding access to expert care.

The surgery was performed using a surgical robot controlled by a medical team from King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, reflecting the integration between the surgical teams in the kidney and urology departments of the two medical cities.

Using the KANGDUO — SageBot platform, the surgical team in Riyadh managed the procedure with high precision, drawing on advanced robotic surgery technologies and communication systems.

This milestone marks a significant advancement in deploying remote robotic surgery technologies across Saudi Arabia and underscores the high degree of coordination among the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs' facilities.

This contributes to enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare and opens future prospects for performing specialized surgeries between cities without the need to transfer patients.
