Defense: Air Medical Evacuation Transports 1,655 Patients in First Half of 2026
The Ministry of Defense announced that the air medical evacuation fleet transported 1,655 patients during the first half of 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance response speed for critical medical cases and provide specialized healthcare inside and outside the Kingdom.
The ministry clarified that the evacuation operations included transporting 1,579 patients within the Kingdom, along with 76 patients transported via international flights, in addition to 13 organ transplant transfers, contributing to support organ transplant programs and save patients' lives.
The Ministry of Defense stated that the air medical evacuation fleet conducted 666 flights during the same period, an indicator reflecting the operational readiness and high efficiency of medical and air personnel, ensuring rapid access to critical cases and their transfer according to the highest safety and healthcare standards.
The ministry affirmed that air medical evacuation services represent one of the main pillars supporting the healthcare system, by providing specialized medical transport for critical cases, contributing to improving the quality of health services and enhancing response efficiency for emergency cases in various regions of the Kingdom.
