The Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Center at Majmaah University is one of the most prominent specialized centers in Saudi Arabia providing medical rehabilitation, prosthetic devices, and sports medicine services. It offers a comprehensive system of therapeutic and rehabilitative services according to the latest international medical standards, contributing to improving the quality of life for patients, people with disabilities, and athletes.

The center was inaugurated in 2018 by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, in a step that reflected the leadership's interest in supporting health and rehabilitation services and enhancing the quality of specialized care in the region.

Integrated Rehabilitation and Prosthetics System

The center provides a wide range of rehabilitation and prosthetic services that meet the needs of different age groups, including the design, manufacturing, and fitting of prosthetic limbs, as well as providing their components, spare parts, and regular maintenance.

The center also offers seating systems for individuals with severe disabilities, patients, and the elderly, in addition to various types of manual and electric wheelchairs, including standing wheelchairs, along with all their supplies and maintenance services.

The scope of services extends to include home care equipment and devices, orthopedic medical shoes, and environmental modifications for people with mobility disabilities such as ramps and adaptations for homes and cars. The center also provides aids for standing and walking, patient lifts and hoists, vehicle driving devices for people with mobility disabilities, as well as hearing and vision aids, speech and communication tools, and environmental control systems.

Sports Medicine: Advanced Care for Professionals and Amateurs

The Sports Medicine Department is one of the center's main pillars, targeting professional and amateur athletes of all ages, as well as individuals looking to improve their physical fitness or recover from injuries and muscle and joint pain.

The department focuses on providing comprehensive health care that combines prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, while working to enhance athletic performance through the latest physical and physiological measurement and assessment methods. The center aims to become an accredited center according to international medical standards for testing athletes participating in global competitions, in addition to supporting scientific research and building partnerships with sports bodies locally and internationally.

Comprehensive Medical File and Accurate Examinations

The center relies on creating a comprehensive medical file for each athlete, allowing the medical team to track health history and previous injuries, helping in making appropriate treatment and preventive decisions.

The center offers an integrated package of medical examinations and periodic assessments, including pre-contract sports examinations and annual examinations approved by local and international federations. These include: heart assessment through electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiogram, stress tests on a treadmill or bicycle ergometer with respiratory gas analysis, physical fitness tests, laboratory tests, muscle examination using the latest techniques, functional assessment, pulmonary function tests, eye examinations, and clinical examination of the musculoskeletal system.

Specialized Treatment and Rehabilitation Programs

The center provides advanced programs for the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries, field injuries, and work injuries, in addition to treating muscle and ligament injuries before and after surgery, and specialized programs for joint problems including the knee, shoulder, pelvis, wrist, and ankle. It also offers assessment and treatment of balance disorders using modern techniques, with training programs to help athletes regain their pre-injury level.

Sports Nutrition and Performance Enhancement

The center's services are not limited to treatment; they include preparing individual sports nutrition programs tailored to each athlete's needs and periodically monitoring dietary plans. The center also implements specialized training programs for several sports, including running, swimming, jumping, and shot put, utilizing the results of medical and physical assessments in designing training programs.

The center collaborates with specialized medical centers to perform surgeries related to sports injuries, ensuring the integration of treatment and rehabilitation stages until the beneficiary safely returns to their activity.
