The medical team at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in Hafar Al-Batin, by the grace of God, succeeded in saving a patient in her fourth decade of life, a mother of seven children.
She presented to the hospital for the first time with no prior visits, suffering from a critical health condition due to the sudden prolapse of a large uterine tumor through the vagina, accompanied by severe bleeding and intense pain. Consultant Dr. Mohannad Yaghmour, the supervising and treating physician, stated that the patient arrived at the Maternity and Children's Hospital in a very critical condition. Her medical history was taken, which revealed that she had previously undergone two abdominal surgeries abroad to remove uterine fibroids, but both attempts failed to remove the tumor. Immediately, necessary medical tests were performed, which showed that her hemoglobin level was only 6.5 gm/dL, and her blood type was A negative, necessitating an urgent intervention to secure 6 units of blood and initiate immediate blood transfusion to save her life.
Immediately, the patient was transferred to the operating room, where she underwent a successful total hysterectomy with removal of the tumor, which weighed approximately 3.5 kg. The surgery was successful with no significant complications. The medical team: Surgical team: Dr. Mohannad Yaghmour; Anesthesia team: Dr. Ruqaya Othman; Nursing team: Abdul Ghani Ibrahim, Dr. Alaa Mustafa, Naima Al Salim, Maali Al-Shammari, Hamed Al-Anzi, Omnia Siddiq, Amani Al-Shammari.
