He knocked on the 'doors' of literature searching for echoes that would fill the certainty of 'talent,' so his name shone in the space of 'culture' before the eyes of reality, and he moved forward 'steadfastly' arranging the appointments of 'writing' on the walls of journalism with the mission of a 'researcher' and the zeal of an 'author.'

He distributed his energy between 'leadership positions' where he was a 'confirmed product' of the equations of 'trust' and journalistic posts in which he remained a 'correct number' in the rates of 'nomination.'

He possessed the 'reins' of poetry and crossed its seas with the humility of the 'great' toward the shore of 'production,' content with poems that took root in the realm of 'feeling' and remained 'stationed' between a brief 'composition' and a triumphant 'description' in spaces of 'emotions.'

He is the writer and man of letters, Abdullah Hamad Al-Qaraawi - may God have mercy on him - one of the most prominent figures in culture, literature, and journalism.

With a 'Qassimi' countenance that complements his parents and borrows from the family lineage the origins of 'resemblance,' and from the stages of upbringing the chapters of similarity, and wide eyes that shine with glances that match situations and stances, and elegance adorned with neat, complete national attire on a face 'familiar' with connection and communication, and a personality moderate in 'opinion,' deep in 'impact,' transparent in 'view,' confident in 'speech,' solid in 'research,' gentle in manner, refined in dealing, elegant in expression, delicate in meaning, and a voice that combines a 'deep' Qassimi dialect and an 'engaging' eloquent language, and a knowledge store stemming from broad 'experience' and a long 'career' during which Al-Qaraawi spent 'decades' of his life employing the methods of 'literature,' harnessing 'methodologies' of culture, raising the banner of 'poetry,' achieving the 'goal' of professionalism in the directions of journalism, fields of knowledge, landmarks of 'administration,' domains of 'positions,' and affairs of 'consultation,' to record his name with competence in the worlds of 'praise' and his echo with consideration in the landmarks of 'exception.'

In Unaizah, the 'shining pearl' in the necklace of 'Qassim,' full of the jewels of places and the pearls of sites, famous for graduating the 'brilliant' to the forums of responsibility, he was born in 1932 in a family cloaked in wide 'renown' and the echo of 'fame,' firmly established in the sky of remembrance with the traits of 'scholars' and qualities of 'virtuous ones.' His eyes opened as a child to a 'generous father' from the notables of his people and a 'virtuous mother' from the noble women of her generation.

His soul was perfumed with the zephyrs of 'harvest' in the seasons of his green village, permanent in the horizon of 'history,' and his spirit absorbed the precious 'opinions' in his family's councils, shining in the depth of 'consolidation,' so he grew up with the 'hymns' of white childhood draped in the fragrance of spontaneity and crowned with the perfume of innocence, and he went on drawing in his heart the memories of 'youth' before the sight of 'time.'

His childhood was adorned with scenes of nostalgia in spaces of 'memory.' He went on recording their testimonies in days clad in the flash of 'situations' in the tales of grandfathers, the narrations of fathers, and the emotions of mothers in a luxurious social 'system' perfumed with the scent of 'chivalry' in the orbits of benevolence. Thus he grew up attracted to the 'elements' of nobilities and the stations of 'virtues,' accompanied by a 'shining' memory rooted in the core of 'steadfastness.'

Between Qassim and Makkah Al-Mukarramah, his childhood and youth were a mixture of early 'excellence' and precocious 'creativity,' in which the flashes of 'ambition' mingled with the signatures of 'determination,' and in his midst stirred the feelings of 'nostalgia' and the emotions of 'certainty' in a 'cognitive' system that formed two eras of 'wishes,' one for expectation and the other for confirmation.

He studied general education in various places: he attended primary school for two years at Al-Saudia School in 1939, then completed the rest of his primary education at Al-Saudia Primary School in Al-Ma'lah in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 1941. He then joined the intermediate and secondary stages at the School for Preparing Scholarship Students in Makkah, obtaining its certificate in 1950. Afterwards, he traveled to 'Cairo of Al-Mu'izz' and received his university education there, initially enrolling in the Faculty of Law at Cairo University, then transferring to the Faculty of Arts at Alexandria University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Philosophy, and Psychology in 1960. He then completed a German language course in Germany.

Saudi political analyst

He returned to his homeland with 'excellence' certificates in his bag and 'distinction' aspirations in his heart, and worked in the government sector for a period. In 1965, he was sent on a scholarship to the United States of America, where he spent about two and a half years pursuing a master's degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In 1976, he attended a course in public administration at the British Royal Institute of Public Administration in London, Oxford, and Cardiff.

He joined the Ministry of Justice and Social Affairs, at the Agency of the Ministry of Labor Affairs in the position of Director of External Conferences in 1962. He was then transferred to the Research, Guidance, and Counseling Department within the same agency. Subsequently, he was assigned as Assistant Director General for Labor Affairs. In 1967, he was appointed as Assistant Director General of the Vocational Training Center in Riyadh, then as Director General of the Center until 1971.

He then moved to work at King Saud University as Assistant Director General of Administration for the university for five years. Then he was transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Electricity, where he worked as Director General of Administration from 1976.

In 1979, he was promoted to Assistant Deputy Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs at Grade 14. In 1980, he was promoted to Deputy Minister of Industry and Electricity for Financial and Administrative Affairs. In August 1993, he was selected as a member of the Saudi Shura Council.

He was among the first founders of the Yamamah Press Establishment and held the position of Director General of the establishment for 15 years, during which he set administrative and planning policies and achieved numerous successive accomplishments.

He was a poet and composed many poems. His 'poetic' talent began at an early age, but he was sparing in publishing 'poetry.' Emil Yacoub described his poetry as 'good.' He began publishing many of his poems during his secondary school years, then turned to publishing poetry in newspapers and cultural magazines in the weekly supplement of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah newspaper, Al-Arabi Magazine, Al-Faisal, and Al-Tawbad.

He wrote articles and published numerous journalistic and cultural contributions. He has one poetry collection.

Al-Qaraawi published the book 'Memories of Half a Century,' introduced by Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Khwaiter, may God have mercy on him. The book includes many memories, amounting to 44 episodes, varying between life stages, age milestones, details of travel and study, journeys, situations, stances, obstacles, and leaps.

Al-Qaraawi passed away in February 2006 at the age of 75 at the Prince Sultan Humanitarian City, where he had received treatment for a month before his death. His colleagues and companions wrote dozens of articles containing 'expressions' of eulogy, condolence, and sympathy, coupled with what the 'deceased' offered in terms of favors, virtues, merits, and achievements that he recorded as 'illuminating' fingerprints on the pages of 'professionalism,' the directions of 'responsibility,' and the illuminations of 'patriotism.'
