Time is among the greatest blessings that God has bestowed upon humans. It is the capital of life, and once it passes, it never returns. Time is the only resource in which all people are equal: no one possesses more than twenty-four hours in a day, and no one can recover a single minute of what has passed, regardless of wealth or status.

That is why Imam Hasan al-Basri, may God have mercy on him, said: “The world is three days: yesterday has passed, tomorrow you may not reach, so work today.” This saying encapsulates the reality of life and calls on humans to seize the present before it is too late. We repeatedly encounter situations that remind us of life's brevity: many have left their homes never to return, many have planned their work and dreams only for fate to prevent their fulfillment. This pushes us to appreciate the value of time, to do good deeds, and not to postpone what benefits us in this life and the hereafter. The prince of poets, Ahmed Shawqi, expressed this truth: “The beats of a person's heart tell him: Indeed, life is minutes and seconds.” Among the great blessings God bestows upon His servants is the blessing of time, which is why the Quran urges us to invest it in what benefits. He says: “O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that – then those are the losers” (Al-Munafiqun 63:9). God also swore by various times in several chapters, such as dawn, morning brightness, and afternoon, to emphasize the great significance and importance of time. He says: “By time, indeed mankind is in loss” (Al-Asr 103:1-2). And He says: “So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship], and to your Lord direct [your] longing” (Ash-Sharh 94:7-8), a call to invest time in beneficial work and not to succumb to laziness. He also says: “And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death comes to one of you and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous’” (Al-Munafiqun 63:10), which reminds humans not to procrastinate and to hasten to good works before it is too late. Among the advice of the Prophet, peace be upon him, is his saying: “There are two blessings which many people lose: health and free time,” a hadith showing that many people do not realize the value of these two blessings until they lose them. Investing time is not limited to performing acts of worship alone; it includes every beneficial work that brings benefit to a person, their family, community, and nation. Time is the foundation of achievement; without it, development is not realized, societies do not progress, and civilizations are not built. It is important for a person to organize their time and achieve balance between religious duties, work, and family and social life, so that they fulfill their responsibilities to the fullest and live a more productive and stable life. Time is life, and investing it well is among the greatest causes of success in this world and winning the pleasure of God Almighty in the hereafter. @drfaisalalazzam
