After controversy... Jazan Municipality reveals the full truth of the Al-Arida Overlook project in numbers
The Municipality of Jazan Region clarified that the images circulated on social media platforms of the Al-Arida Overlook development project in Al-Arida Governorate reflect one of the implementation stages and do not represent the final shape of the project, affirming that construction work continues according to the approved plan.
The Municipality revealed in a clarifying statement that the project is being implemented over a total area of 288,000 square meters, of which only 61,000 square meters have been allocated for development works, representing about 21% of the total site, while 227,000 square meters, equivalent to 79% of the total area, will remain natural mountain overlooks, preserving the environmental character and original terrain of the site.
The Municipality added that the project aims to enhance visitors' experience by providing utilities, services, walkways, sitting areas, and comfort elements, while preserving the natural identity of the site, noting that the final stage will include implementing tree planting works, completing green spaces, and aesthetic elements after the completion of construction works.
The Municipality pointed out that the Al-Arida Overlook project is part of a package of mountain overlook development projects in the Jazan region, which includes a number of tourist sites in the region's governorates, according to approved standards that achieve a balance between developing public utilities and preserving natural resources, contributing to enhancing quality of life and improving visitors' experience.
The statement came following a wide wave of interaction and criticism on social media platforms in recent days, after the circulation of images of the project showing intensive concrete works and removal of parts of the vegetation cover. The Municipality affirmed that the project should be evaluated after all its stages are completed, including tree planting and beautification works.
