Islamic Leaders and Figures in the Republic of Maldives Praise Kingdom's Efforts in Serving Islam and Muslims and Promoting Moderation and Centrism
A number of Islamic leaders and figures in the Republic of Maldives praised the pioneering role played by the Kingdom in serving Islam and Muslims, appreciating the efforts made by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the Kingdom in implementing scientific and advocacy programs that strengthen correct doctrine, spread the approach of moderation and centrism, and establish values of tolerance and coexistence.
This came in their statements on the sidelines of the scientific foundational course on the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Republic of India, in cooperation with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the Republic of Maldives, currently held in the capital Male, with the participation of more than 120 imams, preachers, muezzins, and students of knowledge of both genders.
The Director of the Islamic University of Maldives, Dr. Ali Zahir, affirmed that these courses represent a qualitative scientific addition for the sons and daughters of the Maldives, as they include the foundation of correct doctrine according to the Book and the Sunnah, praising the Kingdom's efforts in serving Islam and Muslims through the implementation of these beneficial scientific programs.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the Republic of Maldives, Sheikh Haitham Mohamed, explained that the topic of the course is one of the most important topics needed by Muslim communities, as it contributes to consolidating monotheism, promoting the moderate approach, and rejecting extremism and radicalism, expressing his thanks to the Kingdom's leadership and to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for its continuous support for such programs.
Former Minister of State for Islamic Affairs and Executive Director of Hira National School, Mohamed Anil, pointed out that the course enhances the moderate Islamic thought derived from the Holy Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah, and contributes to spreading Islamic knowledge and qualifying advocacy cadres, stressing that it embodies the depth of fraternal relations between the Kingdom and the Maldives.
The member of the Supreme Council for Ifta in the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Ilyas Hussain, also praised the scientific courses implemented by the ministry, affirming that they contribute to spreading the moderate message of Islam, enhancing intellectual security, and establishing coexistence and tolerance.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Hawwa Latheef, affirmed that the continuation of these courses reflects the success of cooperation between the Ministries of Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom and the Maldives, and confirms their positive impact on spreading Islamic knowledge and building awareness among community members.
This course is part of a series of scientific and advocacy programs implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance outside the Kingdom, aiming to spread Islamic knowledge, consolidate correct doctrine, promote the values of moderation and centrism, and embody the Kingdom's message in serving Islam and Muslims worldwide.
