The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presented its third Voluntary National Review report during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2026, organized by the United Nations in New York City, affirming its commitment to continue accelerating progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing the targets of Vision 2030. In his speech, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhel Al-Ibrahim highlighted the main elements of the report, which comprehensively documents the Kingdom’s progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, along with lessons learned and future priorities. The report extends the two previous voluntary national reviews submitted by the Kingdom in 2018 and 2023, and includes results from extensive participatory efforts involving more than 140 entities from the public and private sectors, academia, the non-profit sector, and the United Nations system. His Excellency said: "The Kingdom’s third voluntary national review embodies the contribution of Vision 2030 in bringing about a qualitative shift in the national development journey, which has translated into tangible achievements supporting the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This review reflects the progress the Kingdom has made since its previous national review in 2023, the experiences and lessons gained, and what remains underway—a journey that began with an objective and frank assessment of reality, followed by a continuous path of reform and ambition, now entering a new phase based on prioritizing, enhancing implementation efficiency, and maximizing impact." The report identifies the Kingdom’s priorities for the next phase of implementation, including enhancing prevention of non-communicable diseases, improving groundwater sustainability, accelerating the deployment of renewable energy projects, expanding financial inclusion, enhancing biosecurity and national vaccine capabilities, and continuing to develop data to support more accurate and targeted public policymaking. The report also reflects the approach of Vision 2030 in aligning global Sustainable Development Goals with a national implementation model through the National Sustainable Development Plan, which organizes more than 90 development priorities within nine integrated tracks focused on achieving measurable outcomes for people, the economy, and the environment. It also reviews tangible progress achieved within these tracks, including enhancing water security, expanding renewable energy, improving access to healthcare services, increasing women's participation in economic activity, developing digital government, supporting urban prosperity, enhancing industrial development, and enabling more inclusive economic growth.
